Have you ever Wondered about what is Facelift?
Facelift is a non-invasive, cosmetic procedure that involves lifting the skin on the face and neck to treat sagging skin, fine lines, mitigate signs of aging, minimize the appearance of wrinkles, soften complexion and other skin imperfections, and it can be done by board certified plastic surgeons. Facelift, generally, does not involve any surgery or cutting from inside the body, but it can be paired up with surgery for best results.
This procedure removes excess fat from around the mouth to improve facial shape and volume as well as underlying fat deposits under the chin area.
The procedure is quite common among celebrities and those who are willing to spend the time and money for a more youthful appearance.
WHAT IS FACELIFT?
Facelift is the procedure in which the shape of facial tissue is altered to improve the looks of one’s face by employing non-invasive methods such as dermal fillers, chemical peels, lasers and micro needling (needles). This can help provide you with natural results so that in time your wrinkles and fine lines will diminish. Also this is among the most popular cosmetic procedures performed in many clinics around the world.
Facelift, generally, does not involve any surgery or cutting from inside the body, but it can be paired up with surgery for best results. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia or sedatives. Non-surgical facelifts procedures don’t require anesthesia or big incisions. A non-surgical procedure is safer than surgical, as it involves less complication.
TYPES OF FACELIFT PROCEDURES:
There are, basically, 2 types of facelift procedures:
- Surgical Facelift
- Non-surgical Facelift
SURGICAL FACELIFTS
In Rhytidectomy- Surgical facelift, the surgeon will make an incision in the hairline or behind the ear, and then pull back the scalp to expose the muscles of facial expression. The surgeon will then separate the skin from fats, muscle tissue and skin that have built up over time. The excess fat maybe distributed or removed, thus tightening the underlying muscles. After this process is completed, they will use stitches to close any incisions made during surgery. Lastly, they will use a surgical thread to pull your scalp back down over your head and cover it with hair so that it looks natural.
PROS:
Rejuvenated fresh skin, tightened facial muscles, improved facial contours, long-lasting results
CONS:
Downtime, risk of injury, expensive
NON SURGICAL FACELIFTS
Non-surgical facelifts are popular choice among those who have had previous surgery, but still want to maintain the results of their surgeries. Non-surgical facelifts come in many different forms, including thread lifts, injectables, laser treatments, dermal fillers and skin peels etc. They can be administered by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
There are many benefits to non-surgical facelifts. They can be done in as little as an hour and they require no downtime or recovery time afterwards. There is minimal risk involved with these procedures.
PROS:
Minimal pain or discomfort, less aftercare & recovery time, no visible risk, natural look, cost-effective
CONS:
needs regular touch-up which may add up cost overtime
However, the cost of both-surgical & non-surgical facelifts depends on client’s condition.
SIDE EFFECTS:
There are many potential risks and side effects of plastic surgery, but there are also some benefits. Some of the risks include:
- Infection,
- Allergic reactions to anesthesia,
- Nerve damage,
- Scarring or discoloration,
- Asymmetry of the face or neck (lumps),
- Drooping eyelid skin (ptosis),
- Numbness or tingling in the scalp.
BENEFITS:
The benefits of a facelift surgery include:
- Youthful looking skin
- Improved self-confidence
- Removal of excess skin and fat that causes wrinkles
TYPES OF NON SURGICAL FACELIFTS:
THREAD LIFT: Thread lift is a relatively new technique that has been proven to be effective. Thread lift is a non-surgical procedure that lifts the skin by inserting fine threads into the skin. The thread is then pulled up in order to produce an artificial lifting effect. The threads trigger the collagen to surge into the affected area & play its role.
The idea behind this technique is that the facial tissues are suspended from their attachments and thus can be lifted up, thereby producing an artificial lifting effect on the face. DERMAL FILLERS: Dermal filler is smooth gel, injected in your skin to enhance the appearance of the skin & reduce fine lines on the face. These are safe and very effective & provide a natural look that makes you look younger, healthier, and more vibrant. These are normally used to restore the volume and plump in lips, under eyes, cheeks & temples.
Dermal fillers need touch up after every 6 months or 1 year, depending upon the condition of skin. LASER TREATMENT: The laser treatment is a procedure that can be done in the clinic or at home. It is a process that involves the use of lasers to remove wrinkles and tighten skin on the face. The procedure can be done in three different ways:
Laser Facelift:
The laser beam is aimed at specific points on the face to stimulate collagen production and tighten skin.
Laser Resurfacing:
This procedure removes wrinkles and smooths out skin by removing layers of surface cells with high-powered beams of light.
Laser Treatments:
These treatments are made up of two types, Thermage and Ultherapy. Both procedures involve applying heat from infrared lasers to tighten skin without any cuts or injections.
There are a number of other facelift procedures as well that your doctor might suggest you. If you are thinking of getting it, consult a professional for better guidance
